Nuggets: How To Make Difficult Decisions

This episode is all about how to make hard decisions.  The inspiration for this show came from a buddy of mine who is an executive recruiter for one of the largest companies in the world.

He had a decision to make regarding a new opportunity he was offered.  The process laid out here is the guidance I gave him, and I think you will find it valuable.

3 Questions to Ask Yourself

There are essentially three questions you can ask yourself when you're presented with a brand new opportunity.

Question number one, which might sound cliché and corny, but it’s serious. Ask yourself if saying yes to this opportunity is in alignment with your mission and goals.  I see it way too often that people will sell out their ethics, their mission, their morals, their goals for a new opportunity.

The second question to ask yourself is what is the worst-case scenario possible with you taking this opportunity? Part two of this question is are you okay with this worst-case if it were to happen?

The point is to make sure you aren’t taking your unshakable foundation and uprooting it.

If your foundation is set and it's not going to mess with that, it could be a really good opportunity.

If you can objectively say that you're okay with a worst-case scenario. This could be a great opportunity.

Are You Being Challenged?

Lastly, the final question is, will this decision propel you to the best version of yourself?

To figure that out, you can ask if you are being driven or challenged?

Challenges can be great. Comfort can also be great at the right time, but comfort can make you stagnant.

You need to be the best version of yourself. I told my buddy this, and this is what I'm going to leave you with today.

Use this information wisely.
